Lure of uranium draws explorers

21 November 2012

Sixteen companies have lodged 39 expressions of interest to explore for uranium in NSW following the state government’s decision to overturn a 26-year-old ban. Among the companies bidding for the right to apply for a uranium exploration licence are North Mining, Iluka Resources, Callabonna Resources and Broken Hill Prospecting. “This is a new area of exploration and a new opportunity to create an industry which will give the state’s economy a real boost,” NSW Energy and Resources Minister Mr Hartcher said.
